Twitter ahead of the news?

I'm sure all of you heard about the miraculous landing of the plane into the Hudson River in New York recently, but did you know that a post a passenger made about the crash on Twitter was broadcasted to millions before the news and traditional media even knew about it? Just another example of the power of Web 2.0.
